Synopsis

Set in an isolated fishing village of Malaysia, a woman´s relationship with her young daughter descends into a path of self-destruction and abuse when she begins to receive a series of strange and mysterious letters from her long-absent husband.

About the director

Edmund Yeo

Born in Singapore in 1984, trained in Australia and is now based in Japan. Two of his short films, Love Suicides and Kingyo, from 2009, were loose adaptations of the works of Nobel Prize-winner Yasunari Kawabata. Kingyo premiered at the Venice Film Festival 2009, making him the youngest Malaysian filmmaker to ever compete in the festival. He is also the producer and editor of Woo Ming Jin's films, The Elephant and the Sea and Woman on Fire Looks for Water.
